CAPTIVE
thoughts of you deepening
with silhouettes at dusk
the night is ready to bite into
the silver cookie of a moon
to leave crumbs of stars
somewhere a motor cycle
scrapes rubber on asphalt
and my window swears a curse
i am lonesome for you girl...
i look out my window
a gentle rain puppeteers
the earth with strands of gold
a cruel lamp post sheds
a carnage of bugs...
i notice a heap of crumpled thoughts
trashed in my waste basket
pity, a restless mind must kill so many trees
girl, i miss you so
i leave to take my walk
but my walk takes me
summer is almost gone
the pond across wears a ripple
of swans, ducks and geese
soon the rain will rust the trees orange
i recall your beautiful eyes
am forever their captive
the drizzle is tepid
a jogger splatters by...
a thoughtful puddle
rinses the rising moon clean
i walk back home
my muddy shoes smear down
the mat's welcome
